HA Magazine - Tackling the issues of empty properties

SitexOrbis Head of Marketing - Debansu Das has recently written an article featured in HA Magazine.

Debansu writes, "A recent Freedom of Information(FOI) request revealed that 6,249 council homes are unoccupied in London, a third because they are in need of repairs while more than 2,300 have been without tennants for over a year. With 360,000 households on the waiting list for new homes, and empty property resulting in reduced rental income, it is a major issue for local authorities. Camden Council, which according to the BBC research was revealed to have 500 empty properties, admitted its a very pressing problem. "

"Empty properties mean the loss of significant rental income and the threat of squaters, vandals, arson, graffiti and fly-tipping. A high number of voids in one area can lead to security concerns for other residents and eventually the decline of a neighbourhood."
